Vada Pav

Vada pav is a lovely vegetarian dish. It iss also called as Wada pao, Wada pav, Vada Pao etc. Generally this dish has a mashed potato patty dipped in gram flour batter and then deep fried. In this recipe I have switched on from deep frying to Air frying. So I have kept the consistency of batter to suit airfryer. Similar recipe can be followed for deep frying too.

Ingredients required to make Vada Pav

For Vada

  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Mustard Seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Fresh Curry leaves – 8-10
  • Chopped garlic – 6 pods
  • Asafoetida – 1/4th tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 tbsp
  • Boiled Potatoes – 3 medium to big sized
  • Mozzarella cheese

For Coating

  • Gram Flour – 1 bowl
  • Salt to taste
  • Red Chilli Powder – 1/2 tbsp
  • Water

For Tamarind Sauce

  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Cumin Seeds – 1/2 tbsp
  • Asafoetida – 1/4th tbsp
  • Tamarind soaked in water
  • Sugar – 1.5 tbsp

To arrange

  • green chilli sauce
  • tamarind sauce
  • Readymade Pavs (buns)
  • Chaat masala to sprinkle
