How to make Balushahi

Balushahi. Festival season is on again. Summers are arriving and making its mark with the Holi Festival. After holi, Navratri will come and we will observe fasts.

So for Holi festival, let’s make a different sweet i.e. other than Gujia. Balushahi is a famous dish of India. Its preparation is similar to that of Khaja, phenori, sweet satta etc.

Makes : 12-14 pieces

Ingredients required to make Balushahi

For dough

  • All purpose flour
  • Clarified Butter (ghee) – 2 tbsp
  • Milk – 3 tbsp
  • Salt – 1/4th tbsp
  • Water to knead dough
  • Dry flour
  • Oil to deep fry

For Filling

  • Clarified butter (ghee) – 1 tbsp
  • Crushed almonds – 6-8 pieces
  • Rice flour

For Sugar Syrup

  • Water – 150 ml
  • Sugar – 12 tbsp
